Matt joined the NorthCoast team in September 2026 and is based in St. Louis. He is responsible for sourcing, closing, managing, and realizing transactions, conducting due diligence, and serving as board observer for portfolio companies. Prior to joining NorthCoast, he spent 15 years with Enterprise Bank & Trust, most recently as Managing Director and Head of Sponsor Finance, where he oversaw approximately $1.2 billion in senior debt commitments to 120 private equity-backed portfolio companies and worked with financial sponsors across the country on leveraged buyouts, add-on acquisitions, and recapitalizations. Previously, Mr. Kakta spent over five years with the Corporate Banking division of Wells Fargo in San Francisco and St. Louis, structuring and managing credit for upper middle market clients and completing the firm’s Financial Analyst and Credit Management Training Programs. Matt also spent time at Bunge North America where he held the title of Corporate Procurement Specialist.  He began his career as an analyst with Commerce Bank. Mr. Kakta holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Saint Louis University.
